HARQUITECTES is an architecture firm founded in 2000 by David Lorente, Josep Ricart, Xavier Ros, and Roger Tudó. They combine their professional activity with teaching at the Faculty of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (ETSAV and ETSAB), at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, and at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. They have been invited to the Porto Academy, Architectural Association School of Architecture, University of Texas at Austin, Pontifical Catholic University in Chile, École d’Architecture Paris-Villemin, and Umeå School of Architecture, among other institutions. They have received several national and international awards, and their work has been widely published and exhibited.
Margarita Brender Conference
The Open Center for Architecture inaugurated the "Margarita Brender Conference" last April, aiming to showcase and highlight the work and career of local architects recognized at both the Catalan and international levels.
The initiative is named after Margarita Brender, the first female architect to be registered with the COAC in 1962. Born in Romania, where she completed her architecture studies, she emigrated to Catalonia, where she registered and began her professional career, working both individually and in collaboration with F. J. Barba Corsini and J.A. Padrós Galera, among others.
The "Margarita Brender Conference" aims to recognize the invited architecture firms, who will present their work and offer their perspective on the current state of architecture, urban planning, and landscape.
