The Historical Archive houses the professional collections of over 180 architects, whose work is essential for understanding Catalonia’s architectural history.
This body of documents makes up a complete map that traces out the activity of architects from the 19th century to present-day architecture.
It consists of some two million donated documents including plans, maps, sketches, drawings, correspondence, etc., which make it an archive of significant importance for scholars and researchers.
The Historical Archive has branches in the cities of Barcelona, Girona, Lleida, Tarragona and Tortosa.
- ACCESS AND CONSULTATION Access to the Historical Archives is free. Consultation is by appointment, which can be requested in person, by email or by telephone.
- IN-PERSON INFORMATION The information service offers personalised assistance to resolve any queries related to the Archive’s services and resources, as well as to help locate other centres or collections.
- REPRODUCTION OF DOCUMENTS It is possible to order digital copies of original documents, as long as the state of conservation so permits and it does not contravene current laws.
- LOANS FOR EXHIBITIONS The Historical Archive lends its documents to institutions that carry out dissemination activities.
