THE HISTORICAL ARCHIVE IS DONATING FIVE DRAWINGS FOR AN EXHIBITION ON RCR ARQUITECTES IN RODEZ, FRANCE

The COAC Historical Archive participates in the exhibition “Ici et ailleurs. RCR Arquitectes, la matière et le temps” at the Museé Soulages in Rodez by lending five pieces: three drawings by Rafael Masó that are preserved at the Girona headquarters and two drawings, one of them with an outline attributed to Antoni Gaudí, and another one by Nicolau Maria Rubió and Tudurí, which are both preserved at the Barcelona headquarters.

The lending of artworks consists, specifically, of a drawing with the design of an inkwell destined for Francesc Cambó and two drawings of the Masramon house project. All three are by Rafael Masó. The drawing by Nicolau Maria Rubió i Tudurí is of the Cap sa Sal Garden.

The architect Ramon Vilalta has chosen a drawing by Rubió and Tudurí because he himself won the prize that his widow instituted. The drawing of the Cambril de Montserrat, from the Villar Lozano fund, is attributed to Antoni Gaudí.

Coincidentally, the Soulages museum building, where the exhibition takes place, was designed by the Catalan architects RCR Arquitectes, a studio led by Ramon Vilalta, Carme Pigem and Rafael Aranda, between 2010 and 2014.

“Here and in other places, matter and time”, from the Soulages museum, refers to ‘here’, because it is in Rodez where a story unfolds, and ‘in other places’, to evoke his achievements in Europe and the variety of his practices, between architecture and territories, watercolours and design of everyday objects.

The exhibition is produced in collaboration with the Centre Pompidou in Paris and opens on December 17. It can be visited until May 6, 2023.

La cessió està formada, concretament, per un dibuix amb el disseny d’un tinter per a Francesc Cambó i dos dibuixos del projecte de la casa Masramon. Tots tres són d’en Rafael Masó. El dibuix de Nicolau Maria Rubió i Tudurí és de l’emplaçament del Jardí de Cap sa Sal. L’arquitecte Ramon Vilalta ha triat un dibuix de Rubió i Tudurí perquè ell mateix va guanyar el premi que va instituir la seva vídua. El dibuix del cambril de Montserrat, del fons Villar Lozano, se li atribueix la delineació a Antoni Gaudí.

Coincideix que l’edifici del museu Soulages, on es fa l’exposició, és obra dels arquitectes catalans RCR Arquitectes, despatx liderat per Ramon Vilalta, Carme Pigem i Rafael Aranda, i va ser construït entre 2010 i 2014. 

“Aquí i en altres llocs, la matèria i el temps”, del museu Soulages, es refereix a Aquí, perquè és a Rodez on es desenvolupa una història, i en altres llocs, per a evocar els seus assoliments a Europa i la varietat de les seves pràctiques, entre arquitectura i territoris, aquarel·les i disseny d’objectes quotidians. 

L’exposició està produïda en col·laboració amb el Centre Pompidou de París i s’inaugura el 17 de desembre. Es podrà veure fins al 6 de maig de 2023.
