One of the most unique characteristics of Correa & Milá was their international connection in a country that lived under a dictatorship, which allowed them to contribute novelties that were a breath of fresh air in Barcelona’s bourgeois society.

The two architects took advantage of the international relations of their teacher, José Antonio Coderch, thanks to whom they accessed the CIAM summer courses in Venice, established relationships with members of Team X and connected with the publishing world of Domus and with the figure of its editor-in-chief, Gio Ponti. However, they took this a step further by attending Small Congresses and by establishing international relations with relevant architects, mainly of Italian and American nationalities.

It is with the foundation of the magazine Arquitecturas BIS, together, among others, with Oriol Bohigas and Rafael Moneo, that they set an international benchmark. Once they were associated with magazines such as Lotus or Oppositions, they started to hold collaborations at the highest level. Enric Satué, graphic designer of a magazine that based much of its appeal on the radicality of its format and graphic proposal, and Fernando Villavecchia, who was its content coordinator for many years, will explain the intricacies of its operation.

Linking this speech to the figure of Oriol Bohigas, we will strain the importance of his arrival, already in democracy, in the Department of Urban Projects of the Barcelona City Council, placing his colleagues and friends as heads of major projects of great relevance at the city level, from the Plaça Reial to the execution of various Olympic projects, such as the Arrangement of the Olympic Ring and the Rehabilitation of the Lluís Companys Stadium in Montjuïc. Beth Galí, who lived this as part of the whole, and Juli Capella as a late disciple and friend, will address this last stage of the study, providing a conclusion to the talks linked to the exhibition.

Capacity is limited, so prior registration is required, which will open from May 2.
