As part of the exhibition “Earth Perspectives / We Have Excavated the Third Rock,” a conversation between Àngels Castellarnau from Edra arquitectura km0, Jordi Mitjans from Arqbag, Maite Sainz de la Maza from Fetdeterra and Sònia Hernández-Montaño from Arquitectura sana about the practice of building with earth. Moderated by Sandra Bestraten.

Àngels Castellarnau

She is an architect and founder of Edra Arquitectura km0, specialized in bioconstruction using local materials and earth. She has a distinguished career in sustainable architecture, having received several awards such as the Terra Award and Construmat. She works by combining traditional techniques with innovation for low environmental impact projects.

Arqbag

It is a nonprofit architecture cooperative founded in 2017, with activity dating back to 2013. They work by integrating people, energy resources and materials, and territory through participation, environmental consultancy, and architectural design. The collective is made up of a multidisciplinary team committed to collaborative processes and sustainability.

Fetdeterra

A team of specialists in earth architecture and eco-innovation working from the early stages of projects with users and manufacturers to promote natural, recyclable, and sustainable materials. Led by architect Maite Sainz de la Maza and geological engineer Macari de Torres, they stand out for their research and development of innovative products such as Tapialblock, which has received multiple awards in sustainable architecture and innovation.

Sònia Hernàndez-Montaño

She is an architect and founder of Arquitectura Sana, an expert in environmental health and healthy building. She has worked internationally and advises on projects, regulations, and training related to healthy architecture. She is also a lecturer and actively participates in promoting architecture with a focus on wellbeing and sustainability.
