A session of four short films that values the importance of matter in everything that is projected on paper and ends up being built. In this session, materiality and plasticity become protagonists, making evident their decisive influence, not only on the final result, but also on the construction (and deconstruction) processes.
1. Gypsum Concrete | Dir. Simon Pénochet | France, 2022 | 7 min
At a time when it is becoming increasingly urgent to re-examine industrial manufacturing methods in order to find solutions that are less aggressive for the environment, perhaps the solution lies in giving a second life to endemic and existing materials.
2. Trusses | Dir. Jonathan Ortegat | Belgium, 2022 | 9 min
The protagonists of this documentary are not architects or architectural works, but the materials that support them. A cinematographic journey that reveals the four metallic structures through which a building was constructed.
3. Ovan gruvan (Above the Mine) | Dr. Théo Audoire, Lova Karlsson | France, 2022 | 13 min
The iron ore mine in Kiruna, in northern Sweden, is devouring the city’s subsoil. Under the watchful eyes of its citizens, the houses and the cityscape are slowly and majestically moving.
4. TXL – Berlin Tegel Airport | Dir. Lukas Schmid | Germany, 2023 | 14 min
Traveling back in time for some 1970s nostalgia gives us the opportunity to learn about the amusing story behind the construction and design of Tegel Airport’s iconic hexagonal terminal.
Initial presentation by the organization Barq Festival / COAC and Q&A afterwards with part of the teams of the programmed shorts
