Our work has a specific relationship with time. It begins at a moment, in a present, from an intense gaze focused on a point in history, with the presence of the past carrying greater or lesser weight. Yet the work opens itself to the future, and sometimes to a very distant future. The presence of the architecture of the past surrounds us and, at times, becomes part of us.
Therefore, in a more or less conscious way, the future of our works may become part of a shared experience.
Speaking about the future is always complex and difficult. In a world in constant change, it seems especially necessary.
Some imprecise questions appear on the horizon.
Reflections from the closing roundtable of the exhibition Obra Oberta. Josep Lluís Mateo, with the participation of Bet Capdeferro, architect trained at ETSAB and co-founder of the studio Bosch Capdeferro in Girona; Francisco Cifuentes, architect trained at ETSAB, full professor of architectural design at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and co-founder of Aulets Arquitectes; Ana Coello, architect trained at ETSAB and holder of a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Harvard University, founder of ACPA, a landscape, urbanism and architecture studio working across a wide range of scales, from territorial planning to garden design; and Eduardo Prieto, PhD architect from UPM, graduate in Philosophy from UNED and university professor, known for his interdisciplinary research on architecture, thought and the environment.
The session was moderated by Cristina Marcos and Maria Figueras, architects trained at ETSAB, founders of ACTO STUDIO and curators of the exhibition.
