The second session of the International Catalan Architecture Cycle, co-organized by Catalunya Internacional, the Ateneu Barcelonès, and the COAC Foundation through the Centre Obert d’Arquitectura, features the participation of three young architecture studios. Arnau Vergés; Arnau and Ferran Tiñena from NUA arquitectures; and Julia Tarnawski from TEST will present and discuss their recent works.

Arnau Vergés is an architect from ETSAB (2004) and holds a PhD in architecture from UdG (2021). Since 2004, he has been running his own studio in Olot. His work addresses different project scales and typologies, with a focus on housing renovation and new construction.

NUA arquitectures is a studio based in Tarragona, founded in 2013, and currently led by Arnau Tiñena and Ferran Tiñena. The studio’s work explores architecture and design across various scales through strategies that are sensitive to the memory of places and the environment, aiming to respond to the social and cultural changes of contemporary cities and territories.

TEST is an architecture studio founded in 2022 by architects Julia Tarnawski, Albert Guerra, and Adrián Jurado, based in Barcelona.

The upcoming sessions will take place before the end of the year. The third session is expected to focus on the Architecture Congress that will be held in Barcelona during the city’s term as World Capital of Architecture in 2026. There is also a desire to organize a major tribute to architect Oriol Bohigas, coinciding with the centenary of his birth. A key figure in shaping modern Barcelona, Bohigas—who passed away in 2021—stood out for his many roles, which, in addition to being an architect, included urban planner, essayist, educator, and politician. He also served as president of the Ateneu Barcelonès from 2003 to 2011.
