“His academic training as an architect accompanied him throughout his life and permeated his artistic work. This symbiosis came to the attention of the COAC-Tarragona’s Board, and together we embarked on the project of a unique exhibition that shows a whole set of works by Josep Piqué where we can find the pure geometric shapes and the geometrisation of reality that is an essential part of his creative trajectory.
With various geometric concepts, Josep Piqué arranges the composition, builds volumes, projects shadows, structures spaces and objects, natures and landscapes, human faces and absolute abstractions. The essentiality of the line, the triangle, the spiral and other figures of a geometric nature provide the alphabet for his personal expression. Our task has been to select the works that speak to us in this synthetic language, which the artist feels as his own and where his education as an architect has a direct influence and relationship”. M. Assumpta Piqué Franquès (President of the Josep Piqué Iserte Art Foundation).
The exhibition can be seen from June 22 to August 10, 2022, in the exhibition hall of the COAC’s Tarragona Demarcation.
The presentation of the exhibition will take place on July 1, 2022, by the president of the Josep Piqué Art Foundation. This event will be held as part of the 2022 Patronal Feast’s program.
