Monuments are no longer the only main characters of the concept of heritage, and this is increasingly reflected in how regulatory provisions address the issue, opening up to areas and practices which were unthinkable when the first cataloging tools were formed.

Communication offers a review of the main theories on heritage, from the 16th century to the present day, and explores current trends by opening perspectives on our territories.
